Q.What Should I Do If My Azeleas Don’t Come Back This Spring?

I have well established azalea bushes the previous owner planted. They have done well in the past 14 years. I have provided fertilizer in the past. Last year about half of the bush had leaves and minimal blooms. This spring no leaves/buds are forming while my neighbor\’s azelea (which usually keep the same schedule) are full of green leaves. The outer branches are dry and break off easily. Should I assume my plants are dead and do I need to replace them?

Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to see what has happened to your shrubs. It does sound like a disease. It could be insect damage, as well. This article will help you to have some insight into the issue:
