Q.sago palm soil

Zone Santa Maria, CA | Anonymous added on March 23, 2016 | Answered

What kind of soil do I plant my Sago Palm in? My sister wants a Sago palm very much and would like to know what kind of soil (potting soil) should she use. Wants to give it its best chance to survive and thrive.

Sago's prefer sandy, well-drained soil with some composted organic matter. With that in mind, you can use cactus mix or try combining 2 parts peat-moss based potting mix and 1 part sharp sand or perlite.
