Q.What Kind of Shrub?

Anonymous added on April 16, 2014 | Answered

I just moved into my house last May. I have several bushes on the side of my yard that I thought were forsythias. I don’t think they are now because they have not bloomed yet. They have little green buds on them. They bloom yellow flowers that are small on long branches like forsythias do, then they turn green, then they bloom pink flowers in the fall. Any ideas?

This sounds very mysterious. Perhaps there are two different bushes growing together? Look carefully at the leaf shapes of the yellow branches and the pink branches. You may want to take photos of them, or take cuttings and preserve them by pressing the leaves in a book, then send in photos for identification. Or you could take samples to the nearest Extension Service. This link will help you locate one: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/extension-search/
