Q.What plants would grow in this kind of area?
I’ve been thinking of planting a small garden in front of our walkway; however, I have realized it will be a trouble spot.
It is a typically shady spot, which is no trouble for us usually; however, it gets intense sun from around the 5 o’clock mark until sundown. In addition, the area has a tendency to flood during rainstorms, which occur mostly during the spring.
Do any of you guys have a favorite plant that would work in this spot?

I would suggest addressing the flooding issues in the planting area.
Can you provide drainage or a run off for excess rainwater?
Is the soil well draining? Amending poorly draining soil will help with plant success.
