Q.What killed my Bismarck

My Bismarck is about 10 years old, trunk is black and the top fell off yesterday. I have another one near it and it appears healthy.

Oh boy... That was a fungal infection caused by the Palmetto Weevil. It was likely attacked by the insect and taken within a very short period.
