Q.What is the planting zone for SW NV
We just moved to Pahrump NV from Santa Rosa CA. One of the plants we brought with us is a beautiful Coleonema Pulchrum Compacta, still in a 1 gal. pot. I’d like to know if it is safe to plant it in the ground. It would receive eastern exposure (where I’d like to plant it) until around 11 a.m. Or, I could move it to a bigger (5 gal) pot and keep an eye on it. But I still need to know the planting zone for Pahrump, NV. So far I haven’t found it online. I do have a Western Gardens planting book with all the zones in it but it is still packed away and I haven’t found it yet. Can you help me with the zone and possibly info about this beautiful and aromatic plant?

Zip 89048 is in USDA Hardiness zone 8a, with average annual extreme minimum temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees F. Coleonema Pulchrum Compacta I found is hardy in zones 8-11, so you are right on the edge. I would ask a local nurseryman how it fares in your area during the winter just to be sure before I planted it.
