Q.difference between tilling and cultivating

Zone welwyn herts sg36qt | Anonymous added on March 20, 2016 | Answered

What is the difference between the terms tilling and cultivating used by mantis in their brochure? I have bought a mantis tiller but do not understand the purpose of changing tines to either cultivate or till. What is the difference?

Tilling is simply loosening up the soil for planting.
Tilling is good for easier planting of crops and good garden health.
You can till in the fertilizer or added nutrients into the soil.
Cultivating, is similar but is done after the crops are up. The soil between rows or around the plants are cultivated to help aerate the soil and aid in weed removal.
