What Is The Best Hedge/Bush To Cover Fence In Narrow Garden

Nexts doors fence needs replacing but they have not got round to it. So we thought maybe we could cover it with a hedge or bush. The lenth of the area is 36ft, Our garden is quite narrow so we do not want something which would be to deep. Can you suggest what to do ?
