Q.What Is Pollen Like Stuff on My Hibiscus

Zone 56? denver co | kflamenco added on December 27, 2011 | Answered

I have a twisted hibiscus tree. I live in Colorado, so it’s been inside since early Oct. So far it has done well, though it is starting to flower less and yellow more. What I am most concerned about is pollen looking stuff all over the buds, the underside of flowers and on leaves (or fallen on leaves surrounding flowers). First I thought it to be tiny bugs, but no. Can you help me to identify? Thank you.

It still could be insects or frass from insects. Some pests that affect this plant, like mites, are so small, they are hard to see details of them or even see them at all. I would recommend treating the plant with a pesticide.
