Q.What Flowers Should I Plant
I am getting married on May 21. We just purchased some land and I was wanting to grow my own floral garden to hold the ceremony in. I also wanted to use the flowers in my bouquets, centerpieces, and decorations. I want to know what would be the best combination of flowers to plant. I am thinking multiple colors of pink, orange, yellow, white, and blue. I could even go with a mostly white with a touch of pink and orange. Any suggestions?
You're going to need to consider a number of factors before selecting flower seeds. First, where you're located. Look up your USDA hardiness zone https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/planting-zones/usda-planting-zone-map.htm
Then consider how much light/shade the flowers will be growing in, and if the ground is sandy or stony, or well drained or boggy. Then you'll want to select flowers that will be flowering around the end of May, but that you can plant (for bulbs) or sow (for seeds) in the fall. In some parts of the country, this time of year (Oct 20) may be already too late.
Probably the best source for information and suggestions would be the county extension service. This link will help you find the nearest one, and don't delay if you want to have flowers for May:
