Q.Getting Squash to Produce
What can I do to get my squash plants to start producing squash? I am a first time gardener. I am growing yellow crookneck squash in containers.

It depends. If the plants are producing flowers but not fruit, it could be either you have to wait for more female blossoms (https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/squash/squash-blossoms-falling-off-vine.htm) or that the flowers are nor being properly pollinated. These articles will help with that:

If you are not getting flowers at all, then it could be that the soil have too much nitrogen or the plant is not getting enough light.
Too much nitrogen will make the plant large and lush with no flowers and you can add phosphorous to the soil to balance it back out.
Too little light and the plant will look sickly with no flowers.
