Q.Wandering Jew Close To Death

Zone 27407 | Anonymous added on January 7, 2026 | Answered

I have a wondering Jew that was doing well until Christmas when we moved it and it didn’t get the water it needed and so the part that is closest to the pot looks like it’s dead but the leaves that are hanging down lower are still green and purple. It doesn’t look pretty but I don’t think it’s dead yet and I was curious if I should cut it very close to the lip of the pot so it can focus only on new growth if I should trim it some other way to maximize life potential. Please help.

This is common in wandering Jew plants, now called inch plants. They need to be renewed every year or so. You can cut off the healthy pieces to root in water or insert the healthy pieces directly into fresh potting soil. First remove the lower one or two leaves (this is where the roots start).
