Vitex Suckers

Question

I have two mature Vitex bushes in my landscape and the number of suckers they produce is crazy. They require constant pruning. I don’t notice this problem on Vitex specimens around town. What can I change to get these bushes to settle down?

Over pruning the top of the tree can stimulate sucker growth. Keep the trees watered and pruned properly to help avoid sucker growth. Here is more:
