Q.Using Bloodmeal When Planting Seeds

Zone Guelph, Ontario, Canada | Anonymous added on April 2, 2021 | Answered

Hello: I intend to scatter native flower seeds in my pollinator garden this spring, knowing full well that the squirrels will be lining up for them. If I mix the seeds in potting soil and add blood meal to it, will it deter the growth of the seeds, as well? Any other suggestions will be very much appreciated. An aside here: I’m 80, and not inclined – or able, who’s kidding – to get down on my knees to plant.

Try making these seedballs that address the issues with broadcasting native seed. You don't need bloodmeal.
