Q.Tree Root Under House

Anonymous added on March 22, 2014 | Answered

We have a big tree in front of my mother’s home that the root as gone under the foundation of the house and raised the floor. Is there a way to kill this root so it will shrink and lower the floor back down? The house is up for sale and we just are getting a lot of negativity on the tree root.

There is no quick way to do that. You can kill the root and eventually over the course of years it would reduce, but that would not help you in this situation. Plus, you risk killing the tree when you do that. You will likely need a professional arborist to look at the tree and a contractor to look at removing the floor and removing the root.
