Q.Treating my plum tree for gummosis

Zone Brewster MA | Lyaccarino added on October 4, 2016 | Answered

Do you know of any non poisonous ways to treat my plum tree for gummosis? It appears that it has two causes, both insect infestation and some injury that was caused when it was planted this summer. Thanks.

It is best if you can determine what specific insect is infesting your tree, because the effective treatment for each insect is different. Here are some of the insects that can cause gummosis:

It is recommended to leave wounds on trees alone, because the tree will heal best on its own. Do make sure the tree is in a good environment with good drainage and the proper pH and conditions for the species. In that case the tree should recover with time.
