Q.Top Leaves on Tomato Plants Are Small

Anonymous added on July 4, 2012 | Answered

My tomato plants were doing fairly well. They are planted in 15-gallon Smart Pots because of the poor soil here. They were doing real well with big green leaves, like I’m used to seeing. The plants are almost as tall as they are going to get, but I’ve noticed the top one foot of each plant has very small leaves on it. This is something in all my years of growing that I have never seen before. I reside in SC. This is my 2nd year here. Didn’t see this problem in Ohio and do not know what to think.

It's tough to say for sure without being able to see your plant, but one of the most common causes of this problem would be inconsistent watering.
