Q.Too Many, Too Big

Zone 35863 | Anonymous added on May 10, 2023 | Answered

I didn’t know better and allowed my landscaper to plant 5 little Loropetalum, purple, ~12″ apart w/3 Cypress behind them. Looked great until the loropetalum hit about 6′. It’s crowded, they Tower over the Cypress, and looks bad. What would be my best option? Move the Loropetalum somewhere so they could make an ad hoc hedge? Move the Cypress? Thanks

THe loropetalum would be easier to transplant but you can prune them back. Prune after flowering so you don't cut off any buds developing for next year. However, they will grow back, so if continual pruning does not sound appealing, you may want to move them.
