Tips on Growing First Early Potatoes

Hya usually grow Potatoes in Containers but never get many Potatoes when I grow them in the Garden I get lots of Potatoes but they are usually covered in a Rust Colour or ruined by small slugs can you give some Advice Please Thanking you
