Zone 19027 | Leabrov added on August 19, 2020 | Answered

The plant was healthy up to a week ago. I did see a caterpillar on the sage however this looks like a fungal infection. How do I deal with it?

Basil is very prone to infection from overwatering. Make sure to employ proper watering habits when dealing with basil. The soil must dry thoroughly down to about 2 or 3 inches between waterings.

From here you will need a fungicide, and to remove as much of the infected growth as possible. Basil is very accepting of hard pruning.

There has been a week of constant rain so this makes perfect sense that it is reacting to overwatering. I'll go get some fungicide. Thank you for taking the time to offer BushDoctor. I really appreciate it.
