Q.tips of my philodendron leaves are turning black

Zone NJ | tinatunes1 added on April 19, 2015 | Answered

My plants were healthy and then the tips of the leaves started to turn black almost like they were burnt. I thought it was the sun since they hang in front of windows that have blinds on them. I’m not sure what to do.

Black tips indicate either an issue with watering (typically under-watering) or fertilizing. How often do you water your philodendron?

If a plant is given more fertilizer than it can absorb, the salts in the fertilizer will collect in the soil burning the roots and causing black tips on the leaves.
