tent caterpillars

Question

How do I get rid of the tent caterpillars that are swarming all over my shrubs and rose bushes. I’ve been picking them off, but it’s useless. They are eating all the leaves. They are also on my house and deck. I hate to kill anything living, but what do I do? Thank you!
