I don't think I would recommend cutting the whole thing down... I have a recipe that makes quick work of both pests, and soil infections. If you don't have everything in the recipe that is ok, but the more you have the better it works. The recipe is as follows:

First, you will want to prime the soil with dolomitic lime, then spread wettable sulfur to Kill off any infection in the soil. I Also like to spray the plant itself. Mix a few drops of one or more of these ingredients into warm water with a spoonful of coconut oil: Rosemary oil, lavender oil, neem oil, garlic oil, cinnamon extract/oil and for really bad cases, also add clove oil.

This can take somewhere around a month or so. There are a few steps required before they will germinate, though. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/foliage/yucca/yucca-seed-pods.htm

There isn't a lot of care required for this. If you would like, once the flower dries you can cut the stalk out. If the seeds have matured you may plant these as well. You can cut them off. Most of the time this is part of the normal life cycle of the plant, and no cause for concern. This article will give you more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/foliage/yucca/yucca-turning-brown.htm
