My indoor tomatoes looked good. I used lights and heat pads and then they got big but the stems turned really hollow and snapped off. Why?
Sounds like Bacterial Stem Rot. It is more common in greenhouse plants. There is not much that can be done for it.
Why has my tomato plant's leaves gone yellow at the bottom, and what should I do?
There are many reasons this can happen. These articles will help you pinpoint what is wrong with your plant: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/tomato/yellow-tomato-leaves.htm, https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/tomato/early-blight-alternaria-tomato-leaf-spots-yellow-leaves.htm
With a drip system, how many gallons per hour should be put on my tomato plants to get the roots wet?
The rule of thumb is 2 inches of water per week. Since you are on a drip system, I would recommend taking one of the lines out of the ground and measuring how long it takes to fill a small cup to 2 inches. That will determine how long to run the drip system for proper watering. My tomato vines are yellowing at the bottom.
There are a number of reasons for leaf yellowing in tomatoes. If the leaves are curling and there is little yellowing on the plant or just the bottom leaves, the curling is likely environmental and not an issue. If the plant is yellowing as well, especially accompanied by spotting or wilting, it is likely disease. I have a problem with ground moles in my garden. I've only seen the ground pushed up in 1 spot next to my tomato plant, but as I water my garden several areas start to sink in from their underground tunnels. I do have a trap set that I move around every few days, but that's not working. I also have a mole buzzer from Lowes in the middle of the garden. I did use some grub ex stuff for my front and backyard but did not use it in the garden because of the poision. Is there anything else I can use that would drive them away or something that would kill the grubs without poisoning my vegetables?
