I grew a raspberry plant in a container. The plant grew nicely and was bushy but yelled only a couple of berries. I thought I did the right thing by cutting all branches down to one inch after the first frost. Did I ruin, kill, the plant? If not, what do I do with the plant over the winter. I live in northern IL.
Some raspberries need to be pruned very carefully depending on when they bear fruit. It is also worth noting that raspberries, unless meant as a container variety, do very, very poorly in container. To maintain them in this fashion is enough to drive one crazy. If you want to continue to raise this plant in container, then I would go no less than about 8 gallons of soil.

I bought Aldi raspberry canes a few years ago. The labels just said "raspberry" so I don't know if they are autumn or summer types, therefore, I don't know how to go about pruning them for optimum growth or crops.
It is hard to say. The most common variety, and what I would assume that this was, is Autumn Bliss. This is what is most commonly offered when it comes to unnamed varieties.
Could you suggest a variety of raspberries to grow for beginners. Also would appreciate any tips on successful growing. Thank you
The most important is to choose a Raspberry for your growing zone; your zip code indicates you are in zones 5-6.
You may want to verify your zone with your County Extension Office.

Can you please help me with my raspberry problem? I'm wondering if it is vermillion rot or cane borer. Thank you.
I would, actually expect it to be mole/vole damage. Do you see any indication that there could be tunnels underground nearby? Maybe soft spots or visible trails? For now, here is an article that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/animals/mole-control.htm
What will happen if I try to transplant small raspberry runners now? (Victoria, BC Canada) My daughter's neighbor let me take some from the edge of his patch but I was in a hurry to keep up with my grandson and kinda ripped them out and am now trying to develop more root. I have since come home and on researching find out not best time but want to try anyway unless you tell me it's useless. I have an area prepared and can wait until fall. Thank you for your help. I'm just learning to garden and thoroughly enjoying!! Arlene Petch
No harm in trying since you all ready have the cuttings.

I have lots of raspberries along with lots of new growth ready for fruiting next year. When do I prune and do I cut everything back including new growth? The new growth is already very tall but I'm worried if I cut it back I'll have no fruit next summer. Thank you.

What is the problem and how can I fix this?? We moved in two summers ago. The raspberry “patch” is a 4’ x 4’ plot thick with heathy looking canes. The perimeter is composed of old wooden planks. When blooming there is no lack of bee and insect activity for pollination.
It would seem that the bed may be over crowded, and competing for nutrients. You may try removing some of the plants from the ground to free up some space. This will help rejuvenate the area. I would also feed the bed at least once per year.
