HOW CAN I REMOVE PUPS FROM LARGE PONYTAIL PALM AND PLANT THE PUPS?

My pony tail palm grew next to a large white strelitzii and only got sun in the afternoon. After the strelitizii was removed, growth has been rapid and at the top is now growing well. Numerous pups have formed on the trunk and I don't know whether to leave them or cut them off. if I do, what scarring will there be on the main trunk and will it regrow its "elephant skin" over the scars?
You can propagate the pups.

There is no soil or roots...
That's a lot of pups!

I have a ponytail palm with a baby on the side. I notice the mother and baby have sunken. Is it dying? Can I do anything to save it. The soil is not wet but does need watering as it is on the dry side.
You can either transplant that pup on the side, or leave it. The soil should remain moist, but not wet, and should dry out slightly in between waterings. Here is an article that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/ponytail-palm/ponytail-palm-care.htm
green leaves . They are falling off? Sandy soil well drained area.
Has it been any more wet this year than normal? This could cause the issue, as well as wind. This will be the usual culprit. Otherwise, after these options will come to fertilization, which should be done a handful of times per year.

The leaves of my ponytail palm look limp and washed out in color. I may have given it too much sunlight. Should I remove the damaged leaves?
You may try to move it to a shady location, as it does sound like sunburn. It will be ok to remove the fully dead leaves, but leave the ones on that are still somewhat alive. Here is an article for more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/ponytail-palm/ponytail-palm-care.htm
What fertilizer do I use for a ponytail? I have one growing outside for the last 14 years and have never fertilized it, but it is doing alright, except for brown leaves which I realised were because I kept it too dry. The other question is, how big does the bulb grow as we are concerned it may damage our retainer wall and what sort of root system does it have? Many thanks, Krystyna Perrin (sorry not savvy on uploading photos)
Fortunately, the root system isn't very invasive. This will tolerate not being fed often, and will only really need it two times per year. You can use and all purpose palm fertilizer.
