My local nursery is out of pkgs of pole Kentucky Wonder beans but I have an unopened pkg of them that was prepared for last year. Is there something I can do to them to make them more likely to grow this year?
They will last for years. You can plant them, and they will be likely to grow just fine.

I've planted pole beans this year. They seemed to be growing fine but not as vigorously as I'd expected. They bloomed and I harvested a few beans. Afterwards I found no new beans. Succession plantings were deformed, instead of vine, leaves, and flowers, most of the new growth (at the joint between the leaf's stalk and main stalk) of both the original planting and the succession seems to be "miniaturized". Some of the flowers bloom but don't produce beans. I think I'm dealing with more than one problem. There's some leaf damage that looks like Japanese beetle damage but I haven't seen any beetles. (There are beetles as I have seen pheromone traps about a tenth of a mile away) Does anyone recognize these symptoms? Thanks Mike
This is a fungal issue. I would recommend treating the area with a fungicide, or solarizing the area before the next planting. Here are some articles that will help:

I have been raising pole blue lake for 20 & have never seen this before. The only “bloom” is spiky looking. The “seed” in the middle of the bloom is a tiny whitish yellow hard ball. I took pictures - they’re attached. The plants are lush & green - have never bloomed. I haven’t used my soil tester, but I’m sure the lack of blooms is because of either too much or not enough of something. The odd bloom is what’s got me puzzled. Anybody ever see an odd bloom?
This is odd.
We can give a general term for anomalies, such as this, which have a broad range of causes.
Witches' Broom.
Generally, they can be caused by bacteria, fungi, midges and other pests, genetic mutation, and any number of other DNA destroying problems. It is much more common in woody plants, but any plant can experience the symptoms. This article will explain the phenomenon:

With that being said- The plant is probably useless, and should be pulled up. It will take up space, and may not be as productive as your others.

Plants look healthy with lots of blossoms and beautiful but empty pods.

My pole beans were doing fine and then I checked on them today and their leaves looked like this. I know that there is some leaf miner damage, but I'm more worried about the crinkling on the leaves. I have seen some black bean aphids(?) and have been blasting them off with high pressure water.
This is, likely, an infection left behind from the leaf miner damage. If a fungicide wasn't used to prevent this after ridding the plant of the infestation, then it is even more likely.
I would use a fungicide to stave off the infection. Make sure that the soil has a chance to dry out down to about 2 or 3 inches between watering, also.

I have an unopened pkg of pole Kentucky Wonder Beans from last year. I just came from our local garden center & they not only did not have ANY vegetable plants to sell they also didn't have any seeds. What can I do with these beans that I have to insure that they might grow this year?
Beans remain viable for many, many years! Likely, most of them will germinate.

I planted pole string beans a few weeks ago, the leaves are white with aphids and the plant is stunted
