Hi there, I have had good luck making manure tea from your instructions. However, one batch (which I stored in a sealed gallon plastic water bottle) has what looks like green algae on top. Is this batch still good to use? Thanks, Becky in CA
It depends on what it is! Unfortunately, your photo did not come through. Algae would be bad, but Trichoderma would be good. It really depends on what is the microbe in question.
When in doubt, throw it out.

is it good for them
Yes, it is a great amendment to add to your soil in the spring or fall, prior to planting.

I purchased several bags of chicken manure (attached) from the store. They don't smell at all. I need to squeeze hard to break them apart. Is it normal? Too fresh or too old? Please advise.
I would contact the place from which you purchased the product. They will be able to assist you with any problems with products that they have.
How much manure do you add to the soil when planting shrubs and flowers?
Your bag of manure will give instructions such as "add a 1-inch layer of manure to top of soil and work in."

I am sure an Internet search will help you find what you need.
I live in Houston, Zone 9. In a new bed started this spring, I put down wood chip mulch as a top cover. I am wanting to add cow manure compost to this bed. Can I add it directly on top of the wood chip mulch, or do I need to remove the mulch first? After adding the manure, do I have to have the wood chip mulch as a top layer? Thanks!
Generally, it is best to remove the mulch, apply composted manure, then apply the previous mulch, or new mulch. However, it will not hurt to put it on top of the old mulch. It will destroy the look of the mulch, but it will not harm a thing.
This article will explain some of the benefits of using composted manure:

Yes, it is safe to use mushroom manure that has turned yellow/green from sitting in the sun in a plastic bag. The change in color is likely due to exposure to sunlight and does not indicate any harmful effects. However, it is always a good idea to inspect the manure for any signs of mold or unusual odors before using it.
