I just purchased a place with new sod that is 25 days old. It is full of weeds. How soon can I spray and fertilize it?
How often you need to water your new lawn, and when is too much watering?
Generally, new sod needs to be watered every two to three days. Give it a thorough soaking, about an inch or so deep.
For a green lawn, I use Miracle Grow. Is that ok to make grass green?
It is better to use a granular fertilizer specifically for grass since it supplies nutrients specifically meant for grass.
When should I use a lawn roller on new sod placement, and should sod be moist or dry?
I believe spring is best. Also, dry soil will not "move" as easy as wet soil
I wanted to fertilize and throw seed (overseed) on my lawn. Which should I apply first or does it matter?
It does not matter since you'll be putting them both down anyway. Just be sure to keep it well watered.
you can purchase lawn seed with the correct amount of fertiliser that is especially for seed at Bunnings or nursaries so like your previous answer from Nikki she gave you the right advise happy gardening Charles
I was told that you must apply weed and feed by April 15, but will this milder, warmer weather affect the time this application timeline? Can I apply it now? Thank you Ron
Yes, you can go ahead an apply this earlier. If the weather has been warm in your area, you can apply this now.
I live in Southern Ontario. There are lots of huge trees on the street. When should I reseed and fertilize my grass?
Spring or fall is the best time for reseeding.
Fertilizing can be done about mid spring, after you see the lawn has started to grow and have come out of dormancy.
