lavender tree is in pots but no new grow this year what do you do to get new growth
How did you provide winter care for your Lavender?
Is the Lavender that you have appropriate to your growing zone?
It's possible your plant did not survive winter.
Check the branches, do the snap or bend. Branches that snap off have died.
Look for growth down low at the root base; if the roots are still alive, this is where you will see new growth.

I had 4 plants near my front door. One of them died and I was trying to replace it. I bought a lavender from Home Depot and it was totally different as you can see (the small one in the middle of my larger ones(around 2 feet high 3 feet wide)). Can you help me identify what my plant is? What type? Where to buy it from? Any other suggestions (alternatives that will be about similar size and looks nice with mine)? Thank you in advance. I live in Phoenix (can get real hot) and this will receive the afternoon sun.
There are nearly 50 species of Lavenders.
This link may help you identify the types that you have.
I'm unable to from the images provided.

Why are some branches drying up and appearing dead on my lavender plant? The plant is in a pot in full sun.
Lavender does prefer full sun, but care needs to make sure that the soil is moist but not soggy. The top inch or so should dry out slightly between waterings. Depending on the temperatures, wind, and type of pot, you may need to water twice a day.
Give the pot a bit more shade and check the moisture carefully.

can you divide lavender?
Though I often see instructions to divide a Lavender, it is unlikely to survive.
Lavenders are woody shrubs and if you split one down the middle, it will die.
Sometime a plant will have a naturally growing off shoot and these may be able to be dug up and transplanted.
