My plant has a long stem with the foilage all on top. It is in a pot now . Do I set it outside this spring?
Only set it outside when the temperatures remain above 50F degrees. Unless it is a cold hardy variety. This article will give you more information on their care: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/jasmine/growing-jasmine-plants.htm

I have an overgrown, old hedge that is very woody. Can I prune it to the ground and start it over, or will that kill it?
You will not want to prune it all the way to the ground. This can harm it beyond repair. You can prune it pretty heavily, but I would leave something for it to regenerate from. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/jasmine/trimming-jasmine-plants.htm

see above, does this have a chance?
When bought the jasmines had three bamboo canes with the vines wrapped around. When we plant, these in the garden, do we unravel the vines? Or do we leave the bamboo canes in? I want the jasmine plants to grow tall and widen out to give coverage....should I get a trellis? How do you unravel the vines and then how do I get them to grow in a trellis? Grateful for any advice. Thanks , Linda
Since the jasmine plants are already growing on the bamboo canes, it's best to leave the canes and just push them into the ground or lean them against the trellis so the vines can continue growing upwards.
A trellis is a great way to grow jasmine- they need something to climb up, so you'll either have to provide a trellis or some other structure for them to climb. Simply plant them just in front of the trellis and they will find it. If they seem to be having trouble, gently thread the tips of the vines through the trellis. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/jasmine/growing-jasmine-plants.htm
