Some of the leaves have a black oil type film on them. It has had a superb summer with lots of flowers, but I have been noticing this for the past 2 weeks or so. What can I do please?
First it would be helpful to know if this is growing under any other trees. There are many trees that will drop sap, and cause this. There are also certain fungi that can cause this as well. Can you provide a picture, and a description of any trees or fungus nearby? This will help me to help you.
Buds brown and dropping, flowers short lived.
This could most likely be due to a lack of light. This is best in bright filtered light in a bright window.
Alternatively, this could be due to overwating, or underwatering. You should always make sure to keep the soil slightly moist.

plant is in large pot with trellis. Somewhat spindly branches. Every year in Dec./Jan. The leaves begin to become desiccated and crisp. They are completely green when this happens. It's as if they are being dehydrated, although I keep the soil uniformly moist. I live in a high desert climate and the overall humidity is very low from Dec.-May. I have tried running humidifiers, but not seen any improvement. What can cause a green leaf to dry up like that? And how can I help prevent it? Thanks!
This is, almost always, due to lack of humidity. It may be that you will have to seal off the room and get a bigger humidifier. They do go through a dormancy, though. So this is not necessarily bad for them. Here is an article for their care: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/jasmine/growing-jasmine-plants.htm
I would like to ask if I can cut back Our mature vine jasmine .... we are redesigning the garden and would like to keep it but retrain new vines along a new wooden pergola. If we cut the overgrown ball of foliage back, will we get new growth that we can train or will we kill it? Thanks A
It is completely possible to cut it back pretty hard. You will just have to know when it blooms to know when to cut. Here is an article that will help further: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/jasmine/trimming-jasmine-plants.htm
My Jasmine plant was exposed to a very cold spell for two weeks. I live in Myrtle Beach SC a lot of the leaves turned brown almost a copper color should I prune it now or wait till it gets warmer?
I always like to wait until right before it warms up. This will help on the stress, and be a healthier choice for the plant. Here is an article for Jasmine care: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/jasmine/growing-jasmine-plants.htm
I have noticed that it looks like it is dying and has brown (splash looking) marks on some of it. Wondered if maybe a fox had peed on it, although it has always looked really healthy up till now. Any suggestions? Thanks.
You can wash the plant leaves with a spray of water.
I would not be able to identify the material on the plant.
bought my hanging basket indoor jasmine plant one week ago. Why are the flowers going brown ?but the vines are healthy and growing
Jasmine flowers do not last much longer than a week. Are there still buds on it or have they dried and fallen off? If so, then it may be because you repotted; are not providing good sunlight; or are not watering properly.
