Something is chewing through the stalks of my iris slightly below each bloom. Last year they chewed every single bloom off. I live in Dallas. We have a pool so rats are around. Our backyard is rabbit proof. No visible insects on plant. Thank you.
Rats most certainly can do the damage shown, along with other rodents or animals.

Building new beds, along with a 2 year old iris beds of this week we transplanted peonies roots. I live with my daughter and need help as to RI needs. Such as do I need to put calcium on all beds> DL
Dorothy,
Have you had the soil in the new beds tested to see what deficiencies might exist? It's usually not a great idea to try to correct for problems without first knowing what you're starting with. Your local Cooperative Extension office probably offers soil testing services.
That said, compost is a good safe thing to add to most beds. This helps provide some nutrients and aids with soil texture, by reducing compaction and helping with moisture retention.
My plant have all take them for winter with I can't remember powder name on each plant was them paper wrapped. Now I am ready to get in the ground. What is the best way to do it. Do I unwrap and put in water for some time or put so bone after ex. please help. Bless you No pictures.

I had purple iris rhisomes dug up and replanted. All I am getting are yellow, rather than the purple, which most of them were. Is it possible for them to revert back to a "mother" plant color, and could that happen from purple back to yellow???

I had daffodils in the flower bed when I moved here about 15 years ago and I transplanted iris from my Mother's home about 10 years ago. Every year the foliage comes up, but I have had only 2 flowers and same with the iris, but they have never bloomed since I moved them. They are both multiplying, they just won't bloom. What should I do?
Lack of flowers means it's time to lift and divide your plants!
How wonderful they are heirloom blooms.

I am moving and need to know about how long can you keep Iris's in storage? I am moving to Idaho (Nampa) and need to take some with me.
I would recommend potting the iris up for the move during this time of year. If the move is in the fall you can store the dormant rhizomes.

I am having my fence removed and replaced. It's in very bad shape and this timing is the best. My irises and lilies are already up but not blooming. Can I move them, or should I just leave them? What are my best options?
It is possible to move irises and lilies in the spring before they bloom, but they will probably not bloom this year because of the disruption. However, they will probably recover and bloom next year.
If it's possible to leave them until they bloom without destroying them when the fence is removed, that is the best option. If not, you might as well move them now.
