I have mature iris plants, but they won't bloom. Any ideas?
The most common reason for irises failing to bloom is overcrowding. Dividing and transplanting them usually helps. In addition, it can be attributed to poor pollination. Try to entice pollinators (bees, butterflies, etc.) to the area with brightly colored flowers. Also, use a fertilizer higher in phosphorus or even a phosphorus only amendment, like bone meal, to get them to bloom. This article will help you: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/phosphorus-plant-growth.htm

How long can I leave iris rhizomes out of the ground before planting them? I was able to dig out a bunch of irises but wanted to give some to my friend and plant others on another property. I am not sure if I will be able to do so before Wednesday or Friday. Is there a way to save them for a few days? What is the best way to protect them until planting?

Is it okay to mulch iris with wood mulch? If not, what is a good option?
Putting fresh wood chips/mulch in and around garden plants is never a good idea as it will quickly burn the plants. That said, if they've been sitting for some time, it should be ok to add them to the garden as mulch, though it would likely be better to compost them first.
When mulching any plants, including iris, it is best to apply it at least 3-4 inches deep, leaving at least an inch or so around the plant itself to avoid issues with rot or fungus. Putting a retaining wall in and have to dig up my iris and clematis. How do I keep them alive until we are done? It's just my husband and I working on it, so it could take a month or so before we get done.
I would recommend sticking them into a container until then. You can simply continue caring for them as you normally would. Just make sure to get up as much of the surrounding soil roots with them.
With the iris, you also have the option of storing the rhizomes for planting later. Here is more info on that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/iris/storing-iris-rhizomes.htm
