Yesterday, after two days rain, I found lots of funny worms wiggling between leaves in different kinds of plants. I live in Toronto, Canada and this is the first time I noticed them. They are two times thicker than a human hair and 3-5 cm. They're white and like to sit on the top of a plant. Help! I have children and a dog running in the garden.
Please send us the pictures. That will make identification easier.
When a mealy bug is fully matured, can it fly?
I know that male mealy bugs fly (to the females) and they resemble "fluffy" gnats.
I have a grub problem. Can I still plant seeds even if the grubs are present, or should treat the soil first? If I do have to treat, can I plant seeds after the treatment whether it's a natural or chemical treatment?
The most common issue people have with grubs is with the lawn. If you are just planting flowers, you should be ok planting seeds before you treat. If you are planning on planting grass seed, I would hold off until after you treat.
After you treat for grubs, you can plant any seeds. The method you use to treat for grabs, chemical or otherwise, should not interfere with plant growth.
The recipes only signify indoor/houseplants. What is used for outdoor plants?
The same techniques can be applied to outdoor plants affected by these pests as well. Remove scale insects from plants using a soft cloth or sponge dipped in insecticidal soap. Insecticidal soaps or neem oil are good choices, but keep in mind that these are not cures. You will need to follow up with a spray mixture of insecticidal soap and horticultural oil to control scale insects. The oil smothers the slow-moving insects. You might also want to consider introducing predatory insects (such as the parasitic wasp), which feed on these pests.
I have millions of rollie pollie bugs in my garden soil and clinging to plants. So far, no damage to plants is seen. Should I worry, and what is the best way to kills these little buggers?
Pill bugs, also known as sowbugs or “rollie pollie,” feed mostly on decaying vegetation and do not pose a great threat within the garden unless over population occurs. If this happens, marigolds can often take care of the problem. Pill bugs are found under logs, stones, and in damp basements. Keeping your homes and the areas around them clean and dry will also help.
My front lawn is full of weeds and black ants this year. Is there a connection? From the description, I think it may be chickweed and I don't know what the other weed is. I tried Sevin insect killer for the ants - didn't work. Then I tried Ortho Bug B Gone. It's only been a couple days, so I'm not sure if that is working on the ants.

There are holes appearing all over the leaves of my plants in the back garden. I can't see any sign of bugs, but something is chewing its way through them.
Slugs are the usual suspects when there are holes but no pests to be found. They only come out at night, so they are hard to spot. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/facts-about-slugs-and-how-to-kill-garden-slugs.htm
