Yes... This is not advised. I use vinegar to kill even the toughest of weeds. There are some really effective ways to get rid of insects, and you may already have many of the ingredients.

Unless they run out of food in the soil, no. They don't like to be exposed to the sun and air that much. Can you include a photo? This can help me to identify what the pest is.

The scent will not be the primary reason for using the oil. Although it may help, the oil is more for smothering insects, rather than keeping them away. The oil will be toxic to their system so they will not be able to consume the plant.

It is not necessary to use scented oils, but they can help deter pests just a little better. We do not recommend places to purchase products, but a google search and clicking on the shopping tab will usually take you to results that you can use.

Yes, this will be rubbing alcohol. This will be safe for trees, but only use one application with alcohol to avoid harming the tree.

It's best to mix only what you will use for immediate applications, then thoroughly rinse and pump clear water through the hose and nozzle. There are different formulations of neem oil; some will coagulate and/or coat and harden on the interior sprayer surface and clog the nozzle.
