May variegated hostas I planted this year are giving me a headache. They are planted with my other hostas but the tips of the leaves are getting all brown. They get a few hours of morning sun and the rest of the day they are in the shade. What can I do?

Certified ExpertA.Unfortunately, your photo did not come through. I am unable to see the insects in question. That might make it a little difficult to pin down. I can offer some suggestions, and you can compare some of them to what you are seeing. Some possible pests could be thrips, fungus gnats, and sometimes black aphids. All have wings and all will decimate your plants. Keep in mind that it could be one of many other insects as well.
I would make sure to wash off what you can with a hose, then treat with something like neem oil. It is natural from the neem tree, and will kill off any insects. I use concentrated azadirachtin. This is neem extract.
