How long are seeds good for from your own herb plants?
On a newly growing herb, how soon can you start pinching?
You can start pinching once they have a few sets of true leaves. You may want to wait until it is 6" high (or wide) or so, just to make sure it is well established.
What edible plants could I plant now in the Northeast with success? I'm a bit late in the game (i. e. herbs or vegetables?). Pumpkin, squashes? Any possibility of tomatoes?
You're not too late for toms if you get plant from a garden centre. Also july is the time for beans, main crop carrots and, beetroot.
This is for a project for school and I couldn't find the answer anywhere else. I was wondering what is the benefit of planting an herb garden for the environment?
We won't give you the answer (because school is for a reason) but we would recommend looking at US food chains and carbon footprints for the answer.
Can I dry different herbs on separate shelves at the same time in my dehydrator without risking comingling of the flavors?
For most herbs, yes, you can dry them at the same time. There are a few, however (rosemary or mint), where they are just too strong and should be done separately.
I have grown fresh herbs for the first time this year, and I wanted to know if I could pick them and freeze them for later use. I am single and don't use them fast enough and I don't want to lose them. I have enjoyed them so much. I was always afraid of trying for fear of not knowing what to do, but being on your site showed me I could.
We are glad to hear that you decided to grow your own herbs and that our information helped you with that. It is our goal to make gardening easy for everyone. :)
As an answer to your question on freezing herbs, yes, you can freeze them. It is an excellent way to keep herbs. This article will help you with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/herbs/hgen/freezing-herbs.htm
Where can I find a website that explains how to use a biodegradable fiber pot to start herb seeds? My daughter has an FFA project and needs info about planting seeds, and pictures, etc.
