Just purchased a rainbow eucalyptus tree the first of year (2017) and didn't think about the roots spreading so far out , will it hurt to move it this fall ?
A Rainbow Eucalyptus should not be planted in a home landscape.

My tree is continually losing leaves which are a brown and yellow colour with rough black dots on. Bark healthy and new leaves still growing.
This is called black spot fungus. It is not normally fatal to plants but does look unsightly. Treat the plant with a fungicide and this should help clear it up. If possible, water it from below, rather than above, as overhead watering can aggravate the problem. This article will also help:

Rainbow Eucalyptus tree, 10 months old, about 10' tall. All the lower branches have been dying off as the tree grows taller. Now there are only a few branches left near the top of the tree. There always appears to be new growth at the top. Some leaves are turning red, even at the top. The trunk seems dark and splotchy. Planted in cinder, planting soil, and gets fish water and rabbit tea. We live in Puna area of Hawaii with lots of rain and so so sun. Tree is planted in area with mostly sun. Not sure what to do for it.
If you see some reddish spots/marks on the leaves- this is normal, not a disease or problem. Rainbow Eucalyptus will drop and regrow many leaves while they are young. You may even see entire branches drop and then another grow nearby. It is very common for Rainbows to have bright red to pink new leaves, along with some reddish coloration on older leaves.

This is evidence of a Canker on your tree.
You may want to have the tree inspected by a qualified Arborist and determine if treatment is possible.

Dear Sir/Madam, I have a 2 year old Eucalyptus Tree 8ft to 9ft tall, in a plastic tub 18in high x 20in Wide containing general purpose compost in a southerly well protected position on my Patio, which was in a very very healthy condition with Silvery Green leaves all round the tree. About 10 days ago I noticed that the tree was starting to shed its outer thin layer of bark leaving a light fawn trunk beneath. The next thing I noticed was that the inner leaves of the tree were turning Golden Brown and dropping off the tree (the outer leaves still look very Silvery Green and healthy). About 4 days ago I fed and watered the compost with Miracle Grow as I have always done, and noticed that the compost was very tight with root growth around the tub, and therefore loosened the compost about 6in deep all round the tub, but this does not have seemed to stop the bark or the leaves from continuing to turn brown and dropping from the tree. Could you please give me some advice on what the problem may be, and if there is a cure for it as my wife and I love this tree and would like to save it from any further damage if possible. Yours Hopefully, Colin
It sounds like your tree has outgrown the container.
This may be the time to determine if you can put it in a larger container or if it's time to plant outdoors.
