i have a type of moss growing in my daphne shrub what spray do i use to get rid of it?
It is best to try and get this up by hand, as to not make the soil toxic. If this is not able to be done, then you can pour a small amount of boiling water on just the area where the moss is growing.
Hello- We live in Alexandria, VA (zone 8). I have a lovely daphne bush that is about 3 years old and has done beautifully, despite our having a lot of clay in the soil. When we left for a 2 week trip in early Feb.it was starting to form blooms. It got very hot-80 degrees-for one day while we were away. Then there was a first. The leaves have all turned brown and most of then have fallen off. Nevertheless, there are some that are mostly green. There are also still parts of many blooms that still look good. Is this the end of my plant? Is there anything I can do to help it? I am an awful gardener and this was one of my few successful plants! Should I cut it back or leave it alone? I would greatly appreciate your advice! Thanks very much, Mary
Unfortunately, these plants have a tendency to do that. They can die all of a sudden without any warning. There is no way to prevent this. This article will give you more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/winter-daphne/daphne-plant-types.htm
We bought a Daphne one year ago. It is not flowering this Spring but seems to be sprouting a lot of side shoots. Will it flower next Spring?
Daphne is rather picky about its growing conditions. More importantly, it settles in for a couple of years before it flowers. A good root system is the shrub's priority. More info at this webpage: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/winter-daphne/daphne-not-blooming.htm
My daphne has thrived for 21 years and suddenly is dropping leaves. Another one that was 10-12 years started the same way and eventually died. What is it and can I do anything to save it?
20 years is the average lifespan for these plants. Sometimes it will be less. There is nothing that you can do to keep it alive for longer. You will have to replant.

CAN I PLANT A SUMMER FLOWERING DAPHNE PLANT IN THE SHADE?
The more sun the better for these, although in hotter climates, need some shade to perform well. They will do well in partial shade no matter what, but full shade will inhibit their growth, and it will be very slow. Why is my daphne plant leaves limping or wilting is to much or to little water.
Unfortunately, it could be either. You should only water when the top two inches of soil are almost completely dry. This article will give you an idea of what they need as far as care goes: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/winter-daphne/daphne-plant-types.htm
I have a daphne caucasian x collins growing for many years in a patio planter. Recently leaves are turning yellow and dropping. It is a mature shrub about 3 ft wide x 2 ft tall. Thank you.
Yellowing leaves can indicate watering issues, disease or pests.
