I have hired so called grass experts in the past but they have not been able to eradicate the crab grass in my sod yard. Can you help me? I'm tired of throwing good money after bad to these experts and feel I could probably do a better job myself. Thanks for your help in advance.
It's all about timing, getting the pre-emergent down before the crabgrass germinates. Call your extension agent to find out the exact timing in your area. One place I lived was when the forsythia was blooming.
Then, later in summer, you can get the ones that grew with a post-emergent herbicide. Crabgrass can sprout from spring to fall.

I have vinca around my back(north) and east side of my house. The crab grass has invaded! The vinca use to be very thick and controlled from weeds 20 years ago. It is now early Sept in SE PA. How do I dig up and start with new beds using already grown plants? How and when do I salvage my vinca to replant in new beds?
You probably need to start all over again with these beds by digging them up and killing off the crabgrass. You can divide your vinca and plant clumps of it elsewhere, or take cuttings and root them in preparation for replanting. You can harvest the seed pods and store the seeds for spring planting.

I am trying to find info and a salution to ridding crab grass from my front and back yards I've tried digging it up .... Grows back eventually Tried store bought sprays ..... Grown back Plz... Help
There is no way to get rid of them, permanently. Unfortunately, keeping them away will require occasional maintenance, as you have been doing.
The way to keep it away will be to remain on top of the maintenance. This will mean killing them off as they appear, which will reduce the seeding, and ultimately, reduce the number of volunteers that come up.
Here is an article for more information on the types of herbicides that will work well for this grass:

Can you recommend a pre-emergent spray to eradicate crabgrass? One year I did use baking sida which did dry out all crab grass but the weed has returned.
We don't make product recommendations, but I prefer the pre-emergent granules that are easily applied with a spreader.
I don't really want to kill the grass and start over but crabgrass is a real problem right now. I would like to kill it without killing the lawn. Can you recommend a really good product? Thanks, Karen Berni
We don't recommend specific products, but any selective herbicide for crabgrass will contain the same ingredient responsible. Here are some articles that will help:

Hi Is this crabgrass, I attach and what is the best way to get rid of this for this year? I know I need to treat with pre-emergent herbicide which has active ingredient Quincloraic. I live in Ireland
Since you missed the preemergent, the next best thing is a weed killer specifically for crabgrass and other grassy weeds. Some products claim to kill both grassy and broadleaf weeds.

overrun with crabgrass in lawn, gravel and planting beds. sprayed roundup and crossbow then tilled and raked out all the roots i could find. it is back so how do i get rid of it for good?
Crossbow does not list crabgrass as a weed it kills. It is more for broadleaf weeds and poison ivy. Roundup kills grass and everything so I hope you only used it in gravel.
Use a product specifically labeled for crabgrass and other grassy weeds. You can use a preemergent in spring before the crabgrass germinates to prevent its growth. Then if it still shows up, you can use the postemergent specifically for crabgrass.
