I would also suggest you talk with your County Extension Office to see what would be appropriate in your growing zone.

Clover is becoming resistant to herbicides. Round-Up, glyphosate, works but it kills all growth it comes in contact with. Of the selective (broad-leaf) herbicides only dicamba is said to work; however, it is highly toxic. Moreover, it will not kill the clover seeds that are in your soil by now. Clover grows where the nitrogen level in the lawn is low. By putting your lawn on a regular fertilizer program, you can eliminate clover. This won't happen this year but you should start seeing improvement next year. It is much better ecologically than dicamba.

These are just like any typical lawn as far as care goes. You will direct seed like you would grass seed. The clover doesn't need to be fed, as it is a legume and gathers its own nitrogen from the atmosphere and stores it underground. Here is an article for more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/lawn-care/lawn-substitutes/microclover/microclover-care-in-lawns.htm

Products that contain glyphosate will kill red clover along with most other plants. Pouring boiling water over the patch will also kill it.
