September 4, 2023Q.Ruby Spice Clethra Leaves Curling, Deformed, And No Flowers
I planted 2 clethra last summer and they did well with flowers by August. This summer the upper leaves have started curling and there are no flowers. What could be causing this?

Certified ExpertA.Spider mites can be a problem with cleathra, especially if it is planted in a hot, dry site. They perform best in shaded areas in moist, well-drained acidic soil. Compare your growing conditions with those below.

6a Rhode IslandQ.I Have 9 Clethra Anifolia’s In Garden With Hydrangea. I Prune Back The Clethra In Late Winter/early Spring To Control Size. I Don
't et many blooms, only at bottom They are in sun to part sun locations. Any idea why they don't bloom at the top? They have lots of green. Also, is it ok to prune back the new top green growth in summer after they have bloomed make them look neater?
