I bought canna lilies in the pot. Three stems bloomed nicely and when flowers were finished, I removed them. I see many new stems coming out from the roots. Will they bloom? Will the ones that already bloomed bloom again, or should I cut down those stems to the ground? Thank you!
As the flowers fade dead head them to promote continuing flowering.

How far down the stalk should I cut after the flower has faded? I haven't been doing that, and I am getting a group of what appears to be large seeds where the flower was. What is that? Thanks for your help.
Those are seeds. You can plant them if you would like, or simply cut them off so the plant can better focus on storing energy for flowers next year.
You can cut down the flower stem as far as you like, but make sure to leave the leaves as the plant needs these to store energy for next year's flower.
I planted my canna lilies about the middle of May and they haven't sprouted yet. I planted elephant ears at the same time and they're up. Do you think I might have lost them? I planted about 6 of them and none of them are up yet.
Cannas like it warm, so I would give them a little longer just to see if perhaps the weather (or soil) is not warm enough yet. If, however, they do not begin sprouting within the next couple weeks, it is probably safe to say that they are goners, likely to rodents.
When the blooms on our canna lily fade, should we deadhead them?
No, you don't have to deadhead these plants but it will not hurt them to do so.
1. When I pull off the Canna flower head after blooming, it leaves a pod. Does the pod/s need to be removed also? 2. The stems have lots of pods on them, some browner than others. Do I leave these pods or cut/pull them off? They are unsightly. These plants are 3 years old and not blooming well this year. Thanks for your help!
Does Canna Lily (not Calla Lily) need to be deadheaded after they bloom?
No, but you can if they need to be cleaned up.

My friend just moved here and would like to plant cannas in the yard. Would they grow enough to flower this summer or should she wait til next year?
You could try to plant yet this year. Depending on the variety and the temperatures they could sprout in a week or it couple be a few weeks.
They most likely would have time to flower this year.
