Red bulbs coming up out of the ground beside my canna lillies
I don't see a photo, but my guess is you are seeing the spreading rhizomes. Cannas multiply very quickly, too quickly in some cases. Those will have new shoots coming out soon.

The leaves get black spots and then curl, usually after flowering. The plant gets plenty of water and sun (about 4 hours in the afternoon.) I live in Orlando.
It sounds like they get too much water and not enough sun! This will provide the conditions for bacterial infections to take over.

I live in AZ dry environment, Cana flowering just fine but has a lot of brown spots on leaves and some look chewed! We do have mice too!
Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to address the situation. It could be infection from infestation, but it can be overwatering damage, in compensation for dry conditions, as well.
In the meantime, I would recommend a fungicide, and to keep a close eye on soil moisture. You want the soil to dry out, thoroughly, down to about 2 inches between waterings. This important soil layer contains the microbes that will protect your plant, and they cannot survive without oxygen like some of the more detrimental microbes can.

I have a potted Canna Lilly that is two years old. I bring it in for the winter. This year it had been doing better than ever. It would occasionally get dry on the ends of the leaves but was growing great. Now within the last few days the stems feel like rubber or old celery. I am not sure what happened or how to fix it. Please help!
Has your canna been exposed to freezing temperatures? If not, it may have been overwatered. Either way, I suggest cutting them down to soil level and holding off on watering till you are ready to take it back out after all danger of frost has passed.

Hi there Can you advise if these spots are normal or they're signs of a more serious problem. Thanks heaps, Shima
It doesn't look like any of the usual canna diseases, but it could be leaf scorch due to over or underwatering. It also could be a type of leaf miner. They are usually squiggly but can also appear as spots.
I would remove those leaves. Here is more:

Since it was a one time freeze will they survive? Thanks. J
Likely, they will recover. Just care for them as you would, usually. I am in zone 7, myself, and though they are not hardy, here, they come up in one particular spot each Spring! You would be surprised at the stress that these plants can handle.
Once it warms up some, and you see what is dead... Clip off any dead material and let it continue on as normal.

Just wonder if the hairy root that forms around the pots with canna lilies ,would produce new plants with out the bulb . Can I use the soil for other plants or I would end up with cannas . I appreciate your help very much Thank you Georgeta Mckenzie
No, you would need a portion of the vegetative part of the plant in order to reproduce. You can reuse the soil, but I would give the roots some time to decompose. This will help add back to the soil and keep rot at bay.
