Plant has lost almost all of its leaves from the middle down. Is regrowing now but it does have some leaves with brown spots.
I do think this a bacterial leaf spot.
There is no real treatment for left spot except preventative care.
That said it would not hurt to treat the plant with Neem Oil. This works as both an insecticide and fungicide.

So far so good this record breaking heat wave all summer, but now my Bouganvillea is dropping leaves. We water once a week and it is hanging from the porch joyce facing south. My friend is also having a problem w/dropping leaves but her plant has tiny bug-like holes. Any idea why our plants are dropping leaves? She has the same kind of plant 6 ft. away in full bloom! She has been watering every day! Thanks.
Most likely this is attributed to the excessive heat. Many plants will shed their leaves in order to conserve water, even if you are watering daily. With high temperatures, much of the water actually evaporates before reaching the root system. This is why soaker hoses work well for watering--it allows for the water to penetrate deeply in the soil. High temps can also cause the soil to compact, making it more difficult for any water you do give the plants to penetrate it, thus much of the water runs off. The plants should regrow their leaves once the temps begin to even out some, so just keep doing what you're doing but be
I have a bougainvillea that I have nursed along for several years and have had success, but not this year. I have tried at regular feeding intervals Ironite, Miracle Gro, and last week, molassis. I live in Southeast Texas, about 50 miles from Houston. What else can be done, or just give it up and discard? Any help would be appreciated.
This does appear to be either a nutrient issue.
Since you have tried a few different things, I might suggest Epsom Salt.

I recently brought my Bougainvillea indoors the leaves are falling off. I water when it dries and it has sunlight.
Bougainvillea like their soil to be moist, not soggy. Do not allow the soil to dry out.
No matter how much sunlight indoor the plant is receiving it is less than the outdoor natural sunlight.
The plant is likely stressed from the change in light.
Water the plant enough to keep the soil moist, but make sure the pot is well draining.

I have found 'hummingbird moth' on my bougainvillea, as well a fine cob webs with small white critters caught in them. Have sprayed with insect treatment, but cob webs came right back. Leaves have small holes in them, some starting to turn yellow. What can I do?
Due to the presence of webbing, I would evaluate your plant for spider mites. More information on spider mites can be found here: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/spider-mite-treatment.htm
The eaten leaves could suggest another pest - the Bougainvillea Looper: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/bougainvillea/bougainvillea-loopers.htm
We just had an unexpected cold wave with rain. My bougainvillea has withered up and the flowers shrank. It almost looks dried out, but I had watered the day prior to the storm. Should I prune it back now or wait until early spring? The plant is in a pot outside in a sheltered patio.
Your plant is likely suffering from over watering and or the cold, depending on how low the temps were.
Bougainvillea can endure temps to 30 degrees F., but if the soil was wet the cold can have more of an effect.
Allow the plant to dry out, make sure it has proper drainage.
You can trim away any dead or damaged material, but wait for full pruning for late winter or early spring.

Is this bunch at the top going to turn into bracts or leaves?
The clarity of the anatomical leaf and flower (bract) and thorn distribution of the Bougainvillea as brilliantly answered by 'down to earth digs' determines by the simplification of the helpful answer - not found anywhere else on the web pertaining to the Bougainvillea!
The thorns on a Bougainvillea are located at the base of each leaf, this should help you determine what is a leaf.
The flower is a tube like structure and is insignificant.
The bracts form around the flower in a cluster of 3.
