My blood root flowers and leaves are extremely small this year. I've had them for several years, and they have always been good sized. Any reason this might be happening? thanks
It is not uncommon to have changes in height and flower size.

It shouldn't hurt to cut it back, since it is going dormant anyway. Next year if you keep it well watered, it may refrain from going dormant till fall.
