This problem was a very sudden onset. New growth is turning black at leaf tips. Other plants nearby are not being affected. Older growth has begun yellowing and some have brown spots. Sprayed it with neem oil but that is not stopping it. There are blooms on it and I haven't cut them off to slow the growth some.
I would trim back to green leaves. If this continues on the affected plant, it should be removed.
Small yellow spider like pest with red dot. Some spots on leaves, mostly eaten leaves from center out. Black sort of bug discharge like maybe a caterpillar, but none there. Saw nothing in the soil. There are other things growing in garden. Only basil has problem.
The bugs you are seeing sound like they may be spider mites. They are likely not causing the damage you are seeing but should be taken care of because it can cause other kinds of damage. Here is more information on them:

What is causing the damage to your basil is slugs. They come out only at night, so you would not see them to know they were the pests. Basil is among their favorite foods to eat, so they will attack that before anything else. Here is more information on how to control them:

I'm growing indoor basil for a science fair project to "see what fertilizer works best on indoor basil", but I can't seem to find any inexpensive organic fertilizers at stores like Home Depot or Lowe's, and I have to get my stuff from there. Also, do basil plants grow upwards or more to the sides? For the moment, I'm planning to use Miracle Gro Shake and Feed, Fertilizer Spikes, and Miracle Gro Liquid Plant food. I'm also trying to get the plants to last for at least 2 months.
For your organic fertilizer, look for either compost or composted cow manure, or even mushroom compost. All of these should cost no more than $3-4 for a large bag and all these places should carry them. You can use them instead of potting soil for indoor plants. This are the kind of products that organic gardeners use for fertilizer. Basil will grow naturally upwards, but most people pinch their basil (https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/info/pinching-plant.htm) to force it to grow outwards. You get a better harvest from the basil if it grows out rather than up. I'm doing a 7th grade science project on living organisms. My topic is about indoor basil plant. My teacher required me to do one interview with an expert, so I hope you can help me answer two questions. 1. What equipment do the basil plants need to take care of them? 2. How do the basil plants need to be handled in order to keep them and/or others safe?
This article you help you with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/herbs/basil/information-on-how-to-grow-basil-indoors.htm
I have a few indoor herb plants: basil, parsley, sage and chives. I have many little white flying insects that seem to deposit eggs on the underside of the leaves. How do I get rid of them? I've tried a safer brand tomato and vegetable spray?
The insects may be whiteflies and can be safely and effectively controlled with neem oil. This article should help you with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/problems/pests/neem-oil-uses.htm
I have been growing a number of basil plants for a while now, but I noticed that white fuzzy mold has been growing outside the terra-cotta pots, and on the inside in the soil as well. I always water the basil when the soil is almost dry, and until water comes out the drainage hole, like you guys said to. What can I do? And is this mold harmful?
