Q.Suspected fire blight

Zone Dublin Ireland | Anonymous added on May 29, 2020 | Answered

Could you confirm if this could be anything other than fire blight on my apple tree. It is pretty much all over the tree. I have sprayed it with bug and mildew spray but from reading your website I think it should have been a bacterial one. I have also fed it some potash. It didn’t blossom long and there is very little fruit. I have a pear tree beside it that only has slight infection and my neighbour’s overgrown trees x 2 has some too.

If I have to cut it out it will have to be cut back to the trunk so probably no point.

Hope you can give me some hope.

That does appear to be fireblight, unfortunately.

You can try cutting out the diseased branches on the one with only slight infection.
