Q.Sugar baby watermelon with small crack

Zone 28027 | Anonymous added on July 30, 2020 | Answered

Hello! I grew a couple of sugar baby watermelons, and one of them has a small crack in the rind. It had been really hot here, when it hasn’t been pouring down rain. I’m sure that’s why. It’s not fully cracked to where you could see the red inside, just a shallow crack. I cut the watermelon in half and ate the other half that didn’t have the crack, but I saved the half with the crack in the fridge for now. Is it okay to eat when it has that small crack? Or should I have not eaten any of it?

Thank you
